This touching comedy centers around five Southern women who became friends on their college swim team. The group sets aside a long weekend every August to recharge their relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina's Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other's lives. The play begins 22 years after they graduate from college. "The Dixie Swim Club" focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of thirty-three years. As their lives unfold and the years pass, these women increasingly rely on one another, through advice and raucous repartee to get through the challenges (men, sex, marriage, parenting, divorce and aging) that life flings at them. And when fate throws a wrench into one of their lives in the second act, these friends, proving the enduring power of 'teamwork', rally around their own with the strength and love that takes this comedy in a poignant and surprising direction. It is really a study in friendship and how it grows and changes through the years.

The incomparably imaginative creators of Seussical, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, bring one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved tales to life in The Emperor's New Clothes.  This winsome musical is a crowd-pleaser for all ages.

Fourteen-year-old Emperor Marcus the 3rd is nervous to take the throne. Deciding that he can only gain confidence by dressing in the finest attire, Marcus commands his Royal Clothesmaker to fashion him in the most royal wardrobe. Taking advantage of Marcus' uncertainty and immaturity, a Swindler promises to make magic clothes that are "invisible to fools, liars, and anyone you should ignore," for a large and hefty price. Only Arno, the simple-hearted mop boy, can help Marcus out of this royal mess and teach him an important lesson about outward appearance.

Over the past two years, Eric has found a wonderful artistic home at the Old Log.  Audiences have seen him break four pianos as Jerry Lee Lewis in Million Dollar Quartet, entertain brides and grooms as Robbie Hart in The Wedding Singer, and swindle the rich as Freddy Benson in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.  During those two years at the Old Log, Eric has also produced a few concerts, stage managed a Dragon, turned microphones on and off,  took some Instagram pictures, and sold some tickets.  Eric is thrilled to embark on his next Old Log journey of assembling a team of wonderful collaborators and mounting a music-theater production.

When not at the Old Log, Eric spends tons of time working with Nautilus Music-Theater in St. Paul.  Nautilus is dedicated to exploring the intricacies of the music-theater art form as well as developing singer-actors for success in that field.  With Nautilus, Eric has also worked on the development of brand new music-theater pieces such as “TWISTED APPLES: Tales from Winesburg, Ohio.”  Eric has also participated in their Wesley Balk Opera/Music-Theatre Institute as a director and a performer.

Set in London in 1907, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder centers on Monty Navarro, a penniless clerk who is informed after the death of his mother that he is ninth in line to inherit the earldom of Highhurst, controlled by the wealthy D’Ysquith banking family. After the imperious ruling Lord dismisses Monty’s claim of being a relative, the eight D’Ysquiths ahead of young Mr. Navarro begin dying in natural and unnatural ways. (A single actor plays all the not-so-nice D'Ysquiths, adding to the merriment.)

FIVE PRESIDENTS brings us back 25 years into the Executive Board Room at the Nixon Library on April 27, 1994.  It is the day of Richard Nixon's funeral and an historic occasion that brought the five living presidents, four exes and one current, together to mourn, honor and discuss one of our history’s most controversial political figures.  This is a fictional take of what might Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and Bill Clinton have discussed while gathered prior to the service. Maybe some soul searching among great men so rarely together or, would these leaders of the free world prefer banter, small talk, jokes or petty bickering?

 

Author Rick Cleveland, an Emmy winning writer/producer whose credits include THE WEST WING, MAD MEN, and MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE, demonstrates that he can make government leaders engaging on stage as well. “It is not a partisan play, but this ex-president club is a partisan club.” Mr. Cleveland says, “ I think people will be delighted at how not political it is.”

Randy Reyes (Director) is an award winning theater artist that has worked as a professional actor, director, and theater educator with institutions across the country including Theater Mu, The Guthrie, Mixed Blood, The Jungle Theatre, Park Square Theatre, Ten Thousand Things, Pillsbury House Theatre, St. Olaf College, NYU Graduate Acting Program, University of Minnesota, The University of Utah, Augsburg College, and Macalester College. In Tenderly, Rosemary Clooney’s journey starts with her simple Maysville, Kentucky childhood and follows her rise to Hollywood stardom. With her signature songs woven in and out, we learn both the story of her successes on film, radio, and TV, as well as her struggles in her personal life – with a career fading during the advent of rock-and-roll and her battles with addiction and depression. Audiences stand and cheer as they rejoice at her triumphant comeback and even more successful career as a jazz singer.

Winnie-the-Pooh is Christopher Robin's fat little "bear of very little brain" who would like to drift peacefully through life, humming tunes and stopping frequently to eat "a little something." However, he finds himself involved in all sorts of frantic adventures, assisted by such friends as the dismal Eeyore, Piglet and Rabbit, with his countless relations. Pooh's intentions are always the best, but his passion for honey and condensed milk keeps getting him into trouble. When friend Piglet gets roped into Kanga's household and Kanga starts bathing him (with soap!) and forcing down spoonfuls of Strengthening Medicine, Pooh wants to fly to the rescue, but he's had so many snacks he gets stuck in the door. A.A. Milne's wit and special understanding of young people make this one of the most successful plays available.

Written by R. Kent Knutson, this original and new adaptation of the classic Jack and the Beanstalk story contains all the original characters and several more. The story begins years after the beanstalk had been chopped down by Jack who has since gone missing in his adulthood. His son, and namesake, Jack and his talking cow Bessie, embark on a similar path of saving the family farm while searching for his long-lost father. This search takes them to the land of Giants where he meets the giant’s wife Francis, her son Gus, a hen that lays golden eggs, and a harp of gold that sings. Many lessons are learned along the way including the dangers of bullying and the true power of friendship.

In this beloved classic story, a young boy befriends a poetry-loving dragon living in the hills above his home. When the town-folk send for St. George to slay the dragon, the boy needs to come up with a clever plan to save his friend and convince the townsfolk to accept him.

Notes from the Playwrite R. Kent Knutson:

The Reluctant Dragon  was written by Kenneth Grahame in 1839 as a once upon a time children’s story based on the Saint George legend. Grahame who would go on to write “The Wind In the Willows” wanted to tell the story of an 11 year old boy who proves to be a good deal wiser and braver than his peers. In our version the village the boy lives in is filled with story tellers and people who if they don’t know the truth, make it up. So when the rumor of a dragon comes to town they imagine the worst. The dragon is said to be evil and mean a scourge to the land and the people. He is different than they are so he must be feared and destroyed. Not one to accept things blindly and having read all about gentle and kind dragons in his books, Peter, the boy, goes to see the dragon for himself. He finds dragon not fierce or horrible, but  a kind hearted creature who reads books and writes poetry and just wants to make friends with the people and help them. Prejudice however, is a powerful force and  a hard thing to defeat. “Once a person gets an idea in their head it is hard to change It”.  Still Peter tries to convince the villagers of the true nature of the dragon, but they are intent on destroying the beast and send for Saint George, the slayer of Dragons to rid them of this beast. At first St. George is hesitant TO BELIEVE THE BOYS STORY ABOUT A KIND DRAGON; AFTERALL SO MANY IN THE VILLAGE HAVE SAID TERRIBLE HURTFUL THINGS ABOUT HIM, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE NEVER MET HIM. Peter has the Saint and dragon meet and being of a brave and true heart St. George sees the truth. The three of them decide on a plan to save the day and allow the good people of the village to see with their minds and hearts rather than fear and suspicion. A battle is planned with the outcome designed to show the people their foolish ways and teach them to be tolerant and loving. This lovely story teaches the lesson of tolerance, how rumors and lies can hurt a person (or dragon) who has done nothing to deserve such treatment and that there is nothing wrong with reading books and writing poetry no mater you age or gender. During the play the dragon will ask the children in the audience to help him write his final poem. He will call out words and ask the kids to suggest words that rhyme..( Old – gold, sold, told). Then at the end of the celebration or play the dragon has the audience deliver their poem together. Filled with funny characters, a loving mother and father, an 8 ft. tall singing and dancing dragon a saint and a very clever young boy. This story should touch the hearts of your children as well as give you some excellent topics for discussion. I hope you enjoy, “The Reluctant Dragon”!

jUNGLE BOOK Runs June 21, 2016 to August 12, 2016

A new adaptation of the beloved Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book” produced by Excelsior Entertainment. A story of a young boy lost in the jungles of India, raised by a pack of wolves, befriended by the lovable Baloo and protected by the noble black panther Bagheera.  These loving animals accept and raise the human child as one of their own, but not all is peaceful in the Jungle.  Shere Kahn, the tiger, has vowed to destroy Mowglie and be rid of humans forever.

Anne Byrd is a director, playwright, and educator.  Local directing credits include productions with the Minnesota Jewish Theatre, Table Salt Productions, Daleko Arts, Hardcover Theatre, and Yellow Tree Theatre, where she was honored with an Ivey Award for her direction of The 39 Steps.  Anne is also faculty member in the nationally recognized Department of Theatre at Normandale Community College in Bloomington where she teaches performances classes and just directed Sarah Ruhl’s The Clean House, which was honored with an invitation to perform at the recent Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival held in the Twin Cities and hosted by Normandale.

The musical captures the memorable day when four Rock n' Roll greats made music history. On December 4, 1956, an auspicious twist of fate brought together Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley at Sun Records' storefront studio in Memphis, TN. The man who made it happen was the "Father of Rock'n'Roll," Sam Phillips, who discovered them all. This was the only occasion the four legends-to-be played together, and it has come to be known as one of the greatest rock jam sessions of all time.

Jon Cranney has had a long and varied career in the theatre as a director, producer and actor. 

 

Jon began his professional career  as a member of the company at the Guthrie Theater where he performed in many productions and served as director, stage manager and administrator over a period of fifteen years.

 

He served as the Artistic Director of the Tony Award winning Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis from 1984 to 1997.  His directing credits span the globe and include Tom Sawyer at The Central Children’s Theatre in Moscow and The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins at The Children’s Art Theatre of Shanghai as well as productions at The Guthrie Theater, Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, Mixed Blood Theatre, Actors’ Theater of St. Paul, The Arizona Theatre Company and The Oregon Shakespeare Festival. 

 

For VocalEssence he has created many staged works including Libby Larsen’s opera, Barnum’s Bird and a multi-media version of William Bolcom’s celebrated oratorio, The Songs of Innocence and of Experience.

 

For Park Square Theatre in St. Paul he directed Linda Kelsey in The Belle of Amherst, the musical review Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living In Paris, and Shirley Valentine, The Retreat from Moscow. And he directed two plays by Michael Fryan --  Copenhagen and Democracy and also Defiance by John Patrick Shanley. His most recent production was Painting Churches by Tina Howe.

 

He directed a production of The Walleye Kid for Mu Performing Arts at the McKnight Theatre of the Ordway and staged a production of Song of Singapore for the Actor’s Theater of Minnesota.  Most recently he staged another production of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris for Bloomington Civic Theatre.

 

Jon Cranney has appeared in many productions as an actor including the Eye of the Storm Theatre’s Skylight and Park Square Theatre’s The Heiress and Romeo and Juliet. Jon has also performed at The Guthrie Theater, The Children’s Theatre Company, Chanhassen Dinner Theatre and The Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

 

In resent seasons he has directed productions for The Yellow Tree Theatre. His stagings have been The Glass Menagerie, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Woman in Black, and On Golden Pond in which he also played Norman.

Sun Sailor: The Old Log Theatre’s ‘The Wedding Singer’ pays tribute to the greatest hits of the 1980's

The Wedding Singer is a musical with music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Beguelin and Tim Herlihy. It is based on the 1998 film of the same name. Robbie Hart, a Wedding singer, lives with his Grandma Rosie in Ridgefield, New Jersey. He and his band play a great wedding gig. During his usual "warm-up-the-crowd routine," Robbie proudly announces that he will be married to his beloved fiancée Linda the next day. At the wedding gig, Robbie meets a waitress named Julia Sullivan, who can't wait to get married. Afterward, Robbie tries to write a sweet love song to Linda, with help from Julia, whom he had just met during the previous wedding. The following day, however, Linda dumps Robbie at the altar, with only a note claiming that she wants to be the wife of a rock star and not just a wedding singer. Meanwhile, an anxious Julia goes out to dinner with her Wall Street banker boyfriend, Glen Guglia, hoping he will pop the question, which he does.

(Excelsior, MN) Old Log Theatre’s 2015/16 season opens with the regional premiere of Eric Coble’s new
dramatic comedy THE VELOCITY OF AUTUMN. This two person play takes place in a simple Brooklyn
brownstone; 79-year-old Alexandra lives a solitary existence with her fleeting memories and is at an
impasse with her family over how she should spend her autumn years.  Alexandra's long-absent son
enters as a most unlikely mediator, to try and save his mother's life as much as his own. Funny and
sweet, aching and revelatory, this perceptive play reveals both the fragility and ferocity of life. 
 
“Working on this show I am constantly reminded of the Dylan Thomas poem, Do Not Go Gentle Into That
Good Night”, comments Knutson, “With humor, emotion and some pain, THE VELOCITY OF AUTUMN
demonstrates the importance of those words. It refuses to allow us, its’ audience, leave the theatre
without facing the personal and powerful reality that all too often becomes the painful truth of growing
old”.
 
THE VELOCITY OF AUTUMN is the third in a trilogy of plays from playwright Eric Coble, known as the
Alexandra Plays, that include A Girl’s Guide to Coffee, Alex in her 20’s free and uncommitted; Stranded
on Earth, Alexa in her 40’s realizing her joys and tragedies come from her family and aging parents and
finally as Alexandra in THE VELOCITY OF AUTUMN where she is hanging onto a world where she finds
comfort and stability as her family urges her to move on.
 
The play debuted in September 2013 at the Arena Stage in Washington DC, starring Estelle Parsons and 
Stephen Spinella, with Variety praising “Coble’s penetrating book” and lauding “A tale that could
resonate with a broad range of audiences as it touches on a sobering dilemma faced by families every
day.”  In April 2014 THE VELOCITY OF AUTUMN opened on Broadway for a limited run, picking up a Tony
Award nomination for Best Actress.
 
THE VELOCITY OF AUTUMN will preview on September 11, 2015, open on September 12, 2015 and runs
through October 24, 2015 at the Old Log Theatre in Excelsior, MN.  Performances are Wednesdays at
1:30pm, Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. Tickets
are $24 for weekday matinees, $29 for Thursday evenings and Sunday matinees, $30 for Friday evenings

CAST:
Melissa Hart brings a tremendous body of work and theatrical experience with her to the role of
Alexandra In Old Log’s production of “The Velocity Of Autumn”.  Nominated for a Broadway Tony as
Meredith in “Georgy”, she has worked with  renowned directors Harold Prince and Peter Hunt in New
York and acted with Barbara Harris in “The Apple Tree” and Mary Tyler More in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”.
Melissa has done numerous off Broadway plays as well as years of main stage work at the Guthrie, Frank
Theater and the Illusion. She has a marvelous ability to capture and move an audience through any
dramatic moment coupled with a comic wit and sense of humor that makes her a perfect fit for this role. 
   
 
Paul de Cordova playing the role of Chris, Alexandra’s estranged son, is one of the Twin Cities busiest
and best actors. With an MFA in acting from the University of Minnesota/Guthrie acting program he has
appeared in many Guthrie productions under the direction of Joe Dowling and Doug Wagner. Paul has
also been seen on the stages of Park Square, History theatre, Old Log and Pillsbury House theatre. His
comic timing and honest heartfelt characterizations make him a true fit for this production.

Old Log Theatre presents the beloved Charlotte’s Web this summer
for our young and family audiences at the Old Log Theatre
(Minneapolis/St. Paul)  Old Log Theatre presents their summer production for young audiences with the
literary classic, E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web,  a heartwarming story about love and friendship.
Charlotte’s Webs is a delightful and touching  play based on E.B. White’s classic story about Charlotte,
and extraordinary  spider and her  friendship with Wilber, an irresistible young pig.   This heartwarming
and funny adaptation is a great way to introduce youngsters to the fun and magic of live theatre.
E.B. White’s award winning book, Charlotte’s Web,   was  named the Best American Children’s Book of
the past 200 years by The Children’s Literature Association.
The Old Log Theatre’s production is directed by Anne Byrd, and the cast features David Krick, Katherine
Kupiecki, Sharayah Bunce, Kendall Kent, Ben Tracy, Zachery Vinge and Evan Wiberg.    Charlotte’s Web
will be performed from June 23 through August 14 at the Old Log Theatre in Excelsior, MN.

(Excelsior, MN) This summer the Old Log Theatre will present the Tony Award nominated musical comedy The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, directed by R. Kent Knutson; music director John Lynn and choreographed by Regina Peluso. A cast of 24, featuring Julia Cook, Jefferson Slinkard, John Paul Gamoke, Whitney Rhodes and Ken Rosen, brings big songs and big hair to the stage in this sassy, spirited and touching musical about a real-life brothel in Texas.

 

The musical focuses on the town of Gilbert, Texas, where Sheriff Ed Earl has a long-standing relationship with the madam of the Chicken Ranch brothel Miss Mona.  When a big-city television show run by Melvin P. Thorpe, comes to Gilbert, the secret of the Whorehouse is exposed and moral outrage calls for the house to be closed.  Miss Mona agrees to a temporary closure to quiet the critics, but consents to the annual tradition of hosting the winning team from the Texas A&M-Texas game. An ambush of the party by the television show leads to the end of the brothel and a change in the relationship between Miss Mona and Sheriff Earl. Made popular by the Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds movie, the play is a nostalgic look at a delicate subject, but there’s nothin’ dirty going on! 

 

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas will preview on June 12, open on June 13, 2015 and runs through August 29, 2015 at the Old Log Theatre in Excelsior, MN. Performances are select Wednesdays at 1:30 pm, Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 1:30pm and 7:30 pm and Sundays at 4 pm. Tickets are $24 for weekday matinees, $29 for Thursday evenings and Sunday matinees, $30 for Friday evenings and $35 for Saturdays. Student tickets and Group rates are available.

Based on the popular 1988 film, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS centers on two con men living on the French Riviera.  Lawrence Jameson makes his lavish living by talking rich ladies out of their money. Freddy Benson more humbly swindles women by waking their compassion with fabricated stories about his grandmother’s failing health.  When it becomes apparent that the Riviera isn’t big enough for the both of them, they make a winner-take-all wager over the fortunes of a naïve American soap heiress: the first one to “clean her out” can make the other clear out and keep the Riviera and its unsuspecting tourists to himself! A hilarious series of schemes, masquerades and double-crosses will keep audiences laughing.

But then, in this very Irish story with a surprising depth of poetic passion, these yearning, eccentric souls fight their way towards solid ground and some kind of happiness. CANDACE BARRETT BIRK (Aoife Muldoon )

Candace has been involved in all facets of the arts community throughout her career as actress, teacher, director, designer and administrator.  She is the former Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Los Angeles and of the Mythica, The Center for World Mythology in St. Paul, MN.  She has been a member of the acting companies of the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the American Conservatory Theatre and has performed locally at Live Action Set, Hippocrates Café, Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company, Theatre in the Round, The Open Eye Figure Theater and the Guthrie Theater.  Candace has also directed for the Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company, SecondWind, University of Southern California and the American Conservatory Theatre.  She has held many positions in the arts world including Director of the Young Conservatory at the American Conservatory Theatre (San Francisco, CA), Founder and Director of The Academy of Theater and Media Arts (San Francisco, CA), Associate Professor of Theatre at Southern Methodist University (Dallas, TX); Adjunct Professor of Theatre at the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, CA); and Assistant Professor of Acting and Directing at San Francisco State University.  Other projects have included serving on numerous boards and national panels including the National Endowment for the Arts, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the National Endowment for the Humanities; directing live entertainment for Disneyland, developing design and content for an equine theme park in Dubai, developing the primary concept for a Peace Center in Korea and writing K-12 mythology curriculum for the Joseph Campbell Foundation. She recently completed a post-baccalaureate certificate program in Integrative Therapies and Healing Therapies at the University of Minnesota. She is a certified Health Coach and practices at PORTALS.  She is a Thought Leader for the Life Reimagined Institute of the AARP and directed the Second Wind Tour for them. She teaches acting at the Guthrie Theater and is the Lead Artist for their Theater and the Healing Arts program.    

 

Raye Birk (Tony Reilly)



Mr. Birk has been a professional actor for more that 43 years and has worked at numerous regional theatres including the  Milwaukee Rep. the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Yale Rep., South Coast Rep. in Costa Mesa CA and the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta.   He is a native of Flint, Michigan and his theatre training includes degrees from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and an MFA from the University of Minnesota.

He performed for nine season with the prestigious American Conservatory Theatre of San Francisco, playing leading roles in THE BROWNING VERSION, THE THREE SISTERS, PANTAGLEIZE, EQUUS, TRAVESTIES, HOTEL PARADISO, A CHRISTMAS CAROL,  A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN and THE TAMING OF THE SHREW. He returned to ACT for five years to recreate his highly acclaimed performance as Scrooge in A CHRISTMAS CAROL.

During the 20 years he lived in Los Angeles he appeared in nearly 150 television show, including recurring roles on LA LAW, THE WONDER YEARS, COACH, CHEERS, SILK STALKINGS, DEAR JOHN, THE POPCORN KID and THE BLACK SCORPION as well as episodes of BABYLON 5, X-FILES, 3^rd ROCK FROM THE SUN, TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, ER, SEINFELD, MURPHY BROWN, STAR TREK, PICKET FENCES, ALF, PERRY MASON and numerous TV movies.  His feature films appearances include DOC HOLLYWOOD, THROW MOMMA FOR THE TRAIN, THE WAR OF THE ROSES, NAKED GUN & NAKED GUN 33 1/3, CLASS ACT and BURGLAR. Since moving to the Twin cities he has done four feature films here: FACTOTUM. NORTH COUNTRY, SWEETLAND and most recently, the Coen brothers A SERIOUS MAN.

In spring of 2003 Mr. Birk and his wife Candace Barrett moved back to the Twin Cities and he has since appeared in 27 productions at the Guthrie Theater, including THE SUNSHINE BOYS, LONG DAYS JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, OTHELLO, A DELICATE BALANCE, FAITH HEALER, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, 1776, THE GREAT GATSBY, THIRD, THE WINTER’S TALE, PYGMALION, HIS GIRL FRIDAY, MACBETH, and four seasons as Scrooge in A CHRISTMAS CAROL.

Other Twin Cities appearances include OLD WICKED SONGS with Theatre Latte Da, THE LAST WORD with the Minnesota Jewish Theater and most recently playing KING LEAR  at Park Square Theater in St. Paul.

Mr. Birk created an ongoing training class for “professionally oriented” performers called the The Actors WorkOut, which he as taught for the last seven years at the Guthrie.

Mr. Birk was the recipient of a McKnight Fellowship from 1965 - 67 and a Fox Foundation Fellowship in 2004.

Having been a part of the Twin Cities theater scene since 1997, Michael is pleased to play The Old Log Theater for the first time.  Other Twin Cities theater credits include the premiere of Lake Untersee with The Workhaus Collective, The Jungle Theater (On Golden Pond, Dial M for Murder, Blithe Spirit, Glass Menagerie, and Shipwrecked!) Old Log Theatre presents the Regional Premiere of OUTSIDE MULLINGAR. John Patrick Shanley's finest work since Doubt and Moonstruck The Old Log Theatre will present the Regional Premiere of John Patrick Shanley's OUTSIDE MULLINGAR, starring Raye Birk, Candace Barrett Birk, Sandra Struthers and Michael Booth.

Tony Award nominee for Best Play 2014, OUTSIDE MULLINGAR will open on January 16, 2015 and run through March 7, 2015.

OUTSIDE MULLINGAR is presented as part of Old Log Theatre's 2014/15 season with the previously announced LIFE COULD BE A DREAM (August 22- January 3, 2015) and upcoming productions, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS (March 20-May 30, 2015); BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS (June 12- August 29, 2015) and Charlotte’s Web (June 23- August 14, 2015) OUTSIDE MULLINGAR will be performed from January 16 through March 7, 2015 at the Old Log Theatre in Excelsior, MN. Performances are Wednesdays at 1:30 pm, Thursdays at 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm, Fridays 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. Tickets are $24 for weekday matinees, $29 for Thursday evenings and Sunday matinees, $30 for Friday evenings and $35 for Saturdays. Student tickets are $16 for all performances. Free To Be You and Me celebrates, honors and respects the uniqueness of everyone.  Highly regarded as a modern classic of children's literature, this musical-which is based on an Emmy Award-winning television series and a bestselling book by Marlo Thomas and Friends-encourages children to be who they are, however they are, rather than allowing others to dictate who they “should” be.  It's a collection of heartwarming, funny, and illuminating songs and vignettes both children and adults will enjoy.
